Pourquoi Le Raspberry Pi, qu'importe le modèle, ne possède-t-il ni
interrupteur ni bouton de redémarrage ? C'est probablement une question
de coût de revient. Sans interrupteur, on met en marche et on arrête
le Raspberry Pi en branchant ou débranchant l'alimentation à son connecteur micro
USB. On devrait faire autrement pour au moins deux
raisons. Le petit connecteur n'est pas très robuste mécaniquement. Puis, on
risque de corrompre le système de fichier sur la carte SD du Raspberry Pi
quand le système d'exploitation n'est pas arrêté correctement. Il se peut
qu'il devienne impossible d'amorcer le système en conséquence.

J'utilise des alimentations comme celle qu'on peut voir à gauche
ci-dessous. Elles sont munies d'un interrupteur et il est alors possible de
brancher le câble au Raspberry Pi de façon plus ou moins permanente pour
ainsi diminuer l'usure mécanique du connecteur micro USB. Si l'on a déjà des
alimentations qui possèdent une sortie USB de type A alors on peut se
procurer un câble USB avec un interrupteur qu'on peut voir au centre. Enfin
si le câble est fixé de façon permanente au bloc d'alimentation alors on peut
se procurer une courte rallonge micro USB avec un interrupteur tel qu'on peut
voir à droite ci-dessous. Ces câbles ne coûtent pas très cher et pourraient
être une bonne solution si l'on a déjà une alimentation qui fonctionne bien.
Ceci n'est pas une recommandation, je n'ai pas d'expérience avec ces
rallonges USB.
Le modèle 4 du Raspberry Pi vient avec un connecteur USB de type C. Ces
connecteurs ont une meilleure réputation que les connecteurs micro USB. Ceci
étant dit, je ne peux pas affirmer que l'on peut se passer d'un interrupteur.
Notez toutefois que l'alimentation que j'utilise est maintenant disponible
avec un connecteur de type C et l'interrupteur demeure présent.
Ce serait bien de posséder un oscilloscope pour voir si la tension
atteint les niveaux de fonctionnement de façon nette lorsque l'interrupteur
de l'alimentation est activé. Je n'en ai pas un, alors il faut me contenter
d'un analyseur logique, soit un clone d'un Saleae
obtenu de Chine pour quelques dollars. Trois canaux ont été
échantillonnés:

Le bruit sur RUN
est considérable et s'étend sur une
période d'un peu plus de 3 millisecondes. De même, la tension sur le bus
de 3,3 volts n'atteint pas ce niveau d'un coup.
Seul le bus de 5 volts se comporte de façon exemplaire. Cela est
très surprenant puisque le courant de 5 volts en provenance de l'alimentation
doit être coupé à plusieurs reprises lorsque l'interrupteur est activé à
cause des rebonds mécaniques de ses contacts. En revanche, le 3,3 volts est
dérivé du 5 volts à l'aide d'un régulateur de tension de type PAM2306, alors je pensais qu'il y
aurait moins de bruit sur ce bus. Quant au délai du signal RUN
,
le schématique du modèle 3 B montre qu'il est intentionnel
faisant partie de la séquence complexe de démarrages des tensions du système.
On peut aussi y voir qu'il y a un circuit de « diode idéale » entre
l'alimentation et le bus 5 volts. Est-ce la raison pour le démarrage si net
du bus ? Je n'ai pas l'expertise pour poursuivre plus loin cette
discussion. Voici quelques pistes pour les curieux.
Lors de l'arrêt de l'alimentation, on observe quelque chose de
semblable.
La séquence s'étire sur 72 millisecondes ce qui est bien plus long qu'au
démarrage. C'est le bus de 3,3 volts qui s'arrête en premier et de façon
nette.
Le cobaye pour mes expériences décrites ci-dessous est un Raspberry Pi 3
modèle B à quatre cœurs (ARM Cortex-A53 à 1,2 GHZ - Broadcom BCM2837) et 1 Go
de mémoire vive.

Le système d'exploitation embarqué est Rasbian Buster
Lite (noyau Linux 4.19) version 2019-09-26 auquel quelques
modifications ont été apportées. L'utilisateur par défaut est
woopi
alors que le nom de l'hôte (hostname) est
goldserver
. Pour plus de détails, on peut consulter un billet

Comme toujours, une mise à jour a été réalisée juste avant d'entreprend
l'expérience.
Une seule modification a été apportée au fichier de configuration
/boot/config.txt
qui est l'équivalent du BIOS comme dit la
documentation du Raspberry Pi.

On peut voir l'ajout à la fin. La quantité de mémoire vive consacrée au
processeur vidéo est réduite au minimum, 16 Mo, car le Raspberry Pi est
utilisé comme serveur et n'est jamais branché à un moniteur.

Quelle est la différence entre ces commandes ? Il me semblait avoir
lu qu'une ou deux étaient en fait des alias. En furetant un peu, il est
devenu clair qu'elles se reportent toutes vers la commande

est d'arrêter tous les services et
processus en cours. En outre, les tampons des systèmes de fichiers en mémoire
vive sont enregistrés dans la mémoire non volatile (disque dur d'un ordinateur
de bureau ou carte SD d'un Raspberry Pi) avant le démontage. Ce qui arrive
ensuite dépend de la commande.

L'information glanée du Web n'est pas très claire au sujet de
l'alimentation des périphériques. Il semble que les ports USB et les bus 3,3
et 5 volts du connecteur GPIO pourraient demeurer alimentés suite
à la commande poweroff
. D'ailleurs, il pourrait y avoir des
différences entre les modèles du Raspberry Pi à ce niveau.
Si le paramètre --force
(ou -f
) est ajouté à
chacune des commandes, alors les services ne sont pas arrêtés, mais les
processus le sont incluant le démontage des systèmes de fichiers. Si le
paramètre --force --force
(ou -f -f
le
doublon est nécessaire) alors la première étape est escamotée et il y a alors
un risque de perte de données. Il peut y avoir des conséquences fâcheuses,
car un système de fichiers pourrait être endommagé à tel point qu'il pourrait
être impossible de redémarrer. Conséquemment, on ne devrait avoir recours à
cette option qu'en cas de force majeure; quand le système d'exploitation est
tellement détraqué qu'il est impossible de le redémarrer ou de l'arrêter
autrement.
Ce qui suit donne des détails au sujet de la phase d'arrêt du système. On
peut passer
immédiatement à la section suivant sans perdre le fil de la
discussion.
Pour voir ce que le système fait lorsqu'il s'arrête, il faut conserver
les messages du système de journalisation d'un démarrage au suivant. Le
journal de chaque session sera conservé dans le dossier
/var/log/journal
. A noter qu'il n'est probablement pas
souhaitable de conserver le journal de cette façon systématiquement.
La capacité d'une carte SD est relativement limitée.

S'il n'y a pas de bouton de réinitialisation sur le Raspberry Pi 3 B, il
y a quand même des trous traversants étiquetés RUN
auxquels on
peut souder un bouton poussoir normalement ouvert. Toutefois, je recommande
de souder un connecteur en rangée 2,54 mm et d'y brancher le bouton avec des
fils Dupont comme c'était le cas pour les boutons de réinitialisation des
ordinateurs de bureau naguère.
La broche à droite, qui est celle plus près du port USB, est reliée à la
masse. La broche à gauche est connectée directement à l'entrée
RUN
du système sur puce BCM2837. Selon le schéma partiel, cette même entrée est tirée vers 3,3
volts (valeur logique 1) à l'aide d'un diviseur de tension relié au bus de 5
volts. Tant que l'entrée RUN
du système sur puce à une
valeur logique de 1, le système peut fonctionner. Si, exceptionnellement,
la valeur logique tombe à 0, alors la puce cesse de fonctionner.
Si l'on appuie momentanément sur le bouton poussoir normalement ouvert
relié aux deux broches du connecteur RUN
, le système est
arrêté sans délai dès que le contact est établi. Quand le bouton est relâché,
le système redémarre. On a donc l'équivalent d'un bouton de réinitialisation,
mais son activation suspend l'opération du système sans fermer
correctement les services et processus. En fait, c'est l'équivalent de la
commande sudo reboot --force --force qui n'est pas
la bonne façon de redémarrer le système. En fait ce qu'on obtient est
l'équivalent de couper et rétablir le courant au Raspberry Pi.
L'entrée RUN
a une autre fonction. Si le système sur
puce est hors fonction à la suite d'une commande halt
ou
shutoff
, alors on peut revenir à un fonctionnement normal en
activant le bouton poussoir. Rien ne change quand l'entrée RUN
est reliée à la masse puisque le système était déjà arrêté, mais lorsque
le bouton est relâché, le signal de la broche RUN
du
système sur puce revient à la valeur logique 1 et il redémarre.
L'entrée-sortie 3 (GPIO3) peut faire la même chose : redémarrer le
système dont le fonctionnement a été suspendu avec la commande
halt
, shutdown
ou poweroff
. On peut
donc brancher un bouton poussoir normalement ouvert entre cette entrée
(broche 5 du connecteur GPIO) et la masse. La broche 6 adjacente du
connecteur GPIP est un choix pratique. À noter que l'entrée-sortie 3 garde
cette capacité même si elle est utilisée comme signal de donnée (SDA) du bus
I2C.
Les concepteurs de Raspbian ont prévu un
mécanisme pour arrêter manuellement le système d'exploitation de façon ordonnée en créant
un module à cet effet.

This overlay only handles shutdown. After shutdown, the system
can be powered up again by driving GPIO3 low. The default
configuration uses GPIO3 with a pullup, so if you connect a
button between GPIO3 and GND (pin 5 and 6 on the 40-pin header),
you get a shutdown and power-up button.
Usage: dtoverlay=gpio-shutdown,<param>=<val>
Params: gpio_pin GPIO pin to trigger on (default 3)
active_low When this is 1 (active low), a falling
edge generates a key down event and a
rising edge generates a key up event.
When this is 0 (active high), this is
reversed. The default is 1 (active low).
gpio_pull Desired pull-up/down state (off, down, up)
Default is "up".
Note that the default pin (GPIO3) has an
external pullup.
debounce Specify the debounce interval in milliseconds
(default 100)
L'installation du module est simple et la connexion à un bouton poussoir
aussi. Par défaut, une résistance de rappel interne vers 3,3 volts est
activée et le module incorpore un délai de stabilisation raisonnable. De
plus la version de systemd
dans Raspbian Buster,
241, est assez récente pour qu'il ne soit pas nécessaire d'ajouter une règle
udev
. Pour vérifier que ceci fonctionne correctement, j'ai
suspendu le système correctement (halt), arrêté
l'alimentation et mis en place les trois boutons poussoirs comme montrés
ci-dessous.
En fait, il n'y à rien a rajouter concernant la connexion RUN
alors il n'est pas nécessaire d'y brancher un bouton poussoir. Le bouton
relié à l'entrée-sortie GPIO17 sera utilisé pour arrêter le système
alors que celui connecté à GPIO3 repartira le système quand il est
suspendu comme expliqué à la fin de la section précédente.
Après avoir reparti le système, j'ai ajouté le module (overlay)
dans l'arborescence matérielle (device tree) de façon temporaire après
avoir vérifié que gpio-shutdown
n'était pas déjà installé
confirmant qu'il n'était pas contenu dans /boot/config.txt
et
qu'il n'avait pas été installé manuellement auparavant.

Maintenant, on peut procéder au test en appuyant temporairement
sur le bouton poussoir connecté à GPIO17. Le système devrait s'arrêter.
D'emblée on verra beaucoup d'activité sur la DEL verte du Raspberry Pi. Puis
cette dernière s'éteindra définitivement et seule la DEL rouge demeure allumée
alors que le système d'exploitation est suspendu. On peut redémarrer le
système en appuyant sur le bouton poussoir connecté à GPIO3,
en appuyant sur le bouton poussoir connecté à RUN ou en coupant puis
en rétablissant le courant au Raspberry Pi.
Si l'on examine le journal de l'avant-dernier démarrage, on peut constater que
le système a été stoppé dans les règles de l'art comme si l'on avait donné la
commande sudo shutdown now.

L'aide à propos de gpio-shutdown
suggère d'utiliser la
broche d'entrée-sortie 3 pour effectuer l'arrêt du système et son
redémarrage. C'est certainement possible, mais GPIO3 fait partie du bus I2C
matériel et j'ai lu à plusieurs endroits que le module
gpio-shutdown
ne fonctionne pas si le bus I2C matériel est
activé. Pour vérifier, j'ai arrêté le Raspberry Pi et connecté l'horloge
matérielle I2C qui utilise les entrées-sorties GPI02 et GPIO3 en plus du
bouton poussoir connecté à GPIO3. Puis j'ai installé les modules pour le bus
I2C et l'horloge matérielle et après avoir vérifié que celle-ci fonctionnait,
j'ai installé le module gpio-shutdown
. L'horloge fonctionnait
toujours.

On peut lire l'horloge, mais rien ne se produit lorsqu'on active le
bouton poussoir. J'ai éliminé les modules de l'horloge et de I2C et alors
il est redevenu possible d'arrêter le système en activant le bouton poussoir.

Maintenant que les pilotes I2C ont été éliminés, on peut appuyer sur le
bouton poussoir connecté à GPIO3 et voir que le système s'arrête de façon
sécuritaire.
Ci-dessus, il était question du redémarrage d'un Raspberry Pi modèle 3 B
qui fonctionne sous Raspbian Buster. Étant donné
le souci fort louable de la Fondation Raspberry d'adapter chaque nouvelle
version Raspbian pour qu'il puisse tourner sur tous
les modèles du Raspberry Pi, ce qui précède devrait fonctionner, qu'importe
le modèle.
La seule complication est la connexion à la broche RUN
du système sur puce. Pour autant que je sache cette connexion est disponible
sur chaque modèle du Raspberry Pi à l'exception de la première version
mise en vente en 2011. Celle-ci a été rapidement remplacé en décembre
de la même année. On distingue ces deux versions initiales du Raspberry Pi,
à la couleur du connecteur 3,5 mm (en premier noir, puis bleue) et à la date de
copyright: 2011 pour la première version et 2011.12 pour la seconde et
à l'absence de trous de fixation sur la première version.
Le signal RUN
du système sur puce est relié au trou
traversant dont le libellé est RUN
(P6
ou
P2
pour les plus anciens modèles). Si le trou traversant voisin
n'a pas de libellé alors il s'agit de la masse. Les exceptions sont les
modèles 3 A+ et 3 B+ où le trous adjacent est libellé
PEN
. Pour ces deux modèles il faudra utiliser une broche relié à
la masse du connecteur E/S. Mais vous ne devriez pas me croire sur parole, je n'ai que trois modèles différents du Raspberry Pi. Utilisez toujours un ohmmètre pour tracer les connexions des trous traversants.
Il n'y a pas de doute qu'il est utile d'ajouter un bouton de
réinitialisation au Raspberry Pi. Cet ajout impose un choix en apparence
difficile : faut-il utiliser l'entrée-sortie 3 pour avoir un seul bouton
de réinitialisation ou l'utiliser pour communiquer avec des dispositifs I2C
dont l'horloge matérielle qui est essentielle si le Raspberry Pi est l'hôte
d'un système domotique par exemple.
En réalité, il y a d'autres possibilités. Si les dispositifs I2C le
permettent, on peut utiliser un bus I2C réalisé par logiciel (c'est-à-dire
que le fonctionnement du composant I2C du système sur puce est émulé par une
routine logiciel qui fait du bit
banging). Cette approche fonctionne avec les
horloges matérielles basées sur la puce DS3231 et la mémoire Flash (Atmel
EEPROM 24C32); voir Module horloge et mémoire EEPROM I2C pour Raspberry Pi.
Si l'on veut réserver les entrées-sorties GPIO2 et GPIO3 pour le bus I2C
matériel, alors il avoir recours à une autre entrée-sortie pour le module
gpio-shutdown
tel que décrit à la section précédente. Si l'on ne
veut pas de deuxième bouton poussoir branché sur RUN
pour
redémarrer le Raspberry Pi, on peut toujours utiliser l'interrupteur de
l'alimentation puisque le système d'exploitation a été arrêté
correctement.
Une autre possibilité est de créer son propre pilote pour détecter
la fermeture temporaire d'un bouton poussoir relié à une entrée-sortie. Parmi
les nombreux exemples sur le Web, j'en ai choisi deux pour mettre en œuvre
cette approche (voir Reboot and Shutdown Switch). Il suffit d'un seul bouton:
si on appuie sur celui-ci plus de 3 secondes, le système est arrêté alors
qu'il est redémarré si le bouton est activé moins longtemps.
À chacun de choisir ce qui lui convient le mieux. Puisque j'ai un
chien de garde matériel qui en dernier recours redémarra le Raspberry Pi
en panne en activant la broche RUN
du système sur puce, je
compte utilisé gpio-shutdown
relié à une broche
