software

DEAP A console program by Tim Coelli that calculates technical, cost efficiencies and Malmquist total factor productivity indices. Supports CRS, VRS in input and output orientation and provides 3 ways to calculate slacks. The program is a 32 bit application which runs on WINDOWS XP (32 or 64 bit) or newer. The program is available at the following site: http://www.uq.edu.au/economics/cepa/software.htm.
Win4Deap 2 A Windows graphic front end for DEAP. This version (2.1.0.1) is hopefully an improvement on Win4DEAP that remains available. It is still experimental, tested on Windows 7 and 8, it should run on Windows XP or better. Click on the link on the left to get more details about installing the software and to find a download link. A help file is included with the application. DEAP must be downloaded and installed beforehand. The similar program MDeap 2 may be of interest. Again, details and a link to the download are available here (http://dea.sigmdel.ca/install2-en.html).
Win4DEAP A Windows graphic front end for DEAP. This old version works with Windows 95 up. If possible, use Win4Deap 2 or MDeap 2 instead. Click on the link on the left to get more details about installing the software and to find links to the the installation program. A help file is included with the application. DEAP must also be downloaded and installed. Again, details and links to the downloads are available here (http://dea.sgmdel.ca/install-en.html.

Julien Ciccone wrote a SAS script to create a Win4DEAP data file (.ded extension). Win4Deap2 can read Win4DEAP data files without loss of information.

MDeap 2 A free, relatively small, self contained application that performs basic DEA calculations: CCR and BCC models, with input or output orientation and constant, nonincreasing, nondecreasing, variable returns to scale. Slacks can be calculated in one of three ways. Also calculates economic efficiency: cost and revenue. Works with Windows XP or better. The user interface is almost identical to Win4Deap 2, except that results are presented in tables easily copied to spreadsheets. Each application can read project files created by the other. The user interface is available in two languages (French and English) and it is relatively easy to add other translations. Details and a link to the download are available here (http://dea.sigmdel.ca/install3-en.html.

Open Source DEA The Open Source DEA Project is composed of two sub projects: OSDEA-GUI which is a free and open source DEA application. This is a Java program and as such works on Windows, Linux and MacOS. There is no restriction in the number of DMUs or variables. Data is entered using a CSV text file. It is based on OSDEA a free and open source DEA solver library to use in any Java program. Both can do numerous types of calculations ( CCR, BCC, SBM etc.) with the usual constraints on the returns to scale. Both projects may be modified by the user since the source code is provided.

While the web site is still up, the program and source code no longer seem to be available (verified 2019-12-31). However, it appears that Hubert (last name unknown, moniker: hub187) has made the application available in two Github repositories: opensourcedea-gui and opensource-lib.

EMS Efficiency Measurement System. EMS is free of charge for academic users. Windows 9x/NT. Accepted data files: Excel 97 or ASCII. Convex and nonconvex technologies. Constant, nonincreasing, nondecreasing, variable returns to scale. Radial, additive, maxAverage (=Färe-Lovell), minAverage and superefficiency measures . Input-, ouput-, non-oriented. Weights restrictions. Non-discretionary inputs/outputs. Support for program efficiency, Malmquist indices, Window Analysis. Reports scores, shadow prices/weights, intensities ("lambdas"), benchmarks, and slacks

MaxDEA The Basic version is free of charge without limitation on the number of DMUs. Can calculate CCR, BCC, SBM, cost, revenu and profit models with all the usual returns to scale : constant, variable, non increasing, non decreasing and generlized. Also calculates scale elasticity. Reports scores, shadow prices/weights, intensities ("lambdas"), benchmarks, and slacks and so on. The approach is unusual: the software is embeded in an Access database into which data is imported from a CSV file. It is thus best to copy the downloaded file for each new project.
